If the snails are a problem place a slice of cucumber at the bottom and remove after the snails have moved onto it. That or introduce something that eats the snails.

Snails love bloodworms. They sell them frozen in cubes and if you put them in a feeder and wait for the snails to move into the feeder you can just take the whole thing out and remove a lot of them !
