As an early educator I can assure everyone there is NO support for autistic children in Ontario. Ford has removed it ALL. 😳

My kid has an EA with him all day. We live in a small town in ON. He has an OT, LST, BIT, talks of a special ed teacher who can give him tools in grade one.. we have no funding yet through the OAP.

I am deeply grateful that ABA isn’t available. It’s highly controversial and controlling. We need humane support for families & kids. Ford won’t ever give autistic people and their families anything.

This isn’t all true. My son is level 3 autistic and he has a 1:1 aid that goes with him everywhere. Her job before anything else is to help my son.

I think when people hear 70,000+ families waiting on the OAP, they don't realize some of those families have more than one child who needs support. 🫂🫂🫂

One of the reasons we left Ontario 🩵 took matters into our own hands after finding out we wouldn’t get any help for 5+ years. We were fed so much BS from “professionals”. Ontario is anti autism.

I ended up doing all my boys speech therapy at home from things I learned myself , doing occupational things at home . Just downloaded an AAC app because I’m not waiting for them to decide he’s ready

My 6 yo is autistic but they are refusing to even diagnose him … claiming he’s to young but since he was one we new it !! Im so tiered of it !!

honestly my daughter's skool in hamilton ont has 1 on 1 w most autistic kids , but they are far on the spectrum , the ones who have 1.1 ... also look into getting an eCE they can connect u withe ever

Why does it take so long to get funding in Ontario? In SK we get funding right away. We have our own problems in SK so I’m not saying it’s perfect over here.

We moved to Alberta for this reason ❤️my son was never allowed full days at school, would threaten to call the cops if I couldn’t pick him up during school because of work…it was insane.

You should make the move to Victoria BC specifically Vancouver Island. There’s a very good network here. There’s also supports like I receive an extra $350 a month for respite on top of the child tax

Yep. I asked my dr if there was any services for my ADHD son but there aren’t many and the ones they have here are private which we can’t afford. Books and research is where I’ve been looking lately.

Maybe because my son is only lvl 1 but he is connected with a behaviour specialist his medical care is covered he sees a speech therapist and OT has 1on1 in school (3 ece teachers) in Toronto
