And the fact is even with CBK—- you can tell she’s dressed the the 90s in many of her outfits. She wasn’t immune to trends either!

This trend is back. It’s obvious the picture is not from 2010 for example.

True. If you try to be “timeless,” you’re not fully engaging with our culture and being open to change, which seems a little dull.

there is such charm in looking back and laughing at what you used to wear, my mom can look backnat 70/80/90 trends etc and they are such cool time capsules

I actually think timelessness is an illusion. We talk about CBK but she’s only seen as “timeless” because she was wealthy and we’re in a trend of aspirational quiet luxury. But that’s not how day to day folks necessarily dressed in the 90s.

I HATE “timeless” as a trend or aspiration, who cares, I love looking at an outfit and being able to connect it to time and place. I’m so bored with most daily fashion right now

Fashion is about fun and taking risks. And doesn’t have to be that serious- people should lighten up. they lose the fun when too focused on how it will age… and… miiiight lack true personal style.

Isn’t the obsession with timelessness just another expression of embracing conservatism

I feel like we forget when we look back at pictures of our parents and grandparents and forget how much their trend outfits really show how cool they were as youth.

I completely understand what you’re saying. I happen to prefer timeless or classic style and always have- I do add in pieces that may be a little trendy sometimes. Overall trends are designed to get

Like with all things in life, it’s about balance. It’s good to have “timeless” pieces to have solid foundation and reduce waste, but I think it’s fun to engage in trends that you enjoy.

I am always the one out of my friends who is constantly laughed at for old outfits but at the time, I always ATE. If you look back and cringe at your outfit it probably meant you were fashionable and

Love this. I’ve been thinking this lately. Fashion should be fun! Chic and timeless is becoming boring

Agree! I do think the love of timeless has to do with buying pieces that aren’t trendy/ feeling the pressure to buy a new wardrobe every season which also shouldn’t be happening too

am guessing another factor was/ is his husband... not just handsome but his family name... something a lot of people wants to emulate (old money aesthetics & the likes...)
