Ruby Bridges once said in an interview that she’d never allow her child to go through the experience she went through. As a parent that had kids attend pwi, Iwouldnt do it again

In a sense this is how some black children internalize hatred for themselves. Definitely damaging

Especially young black girls going to all white schools. They become so white washed. The appearance of a better education is not worth it

I think if you make your kids to all white schools you have to also expose them socially to black spaces via church, extra carricular activities, etc.

My children went to public school. I supplemented their education at home. My black son graduated from Johns Hopkins a top ten university with honors and was accepted in a PHD program for Neuroscience

I was that parent. My child is brillant. But they suffered greatly. They didn't make fun of them. They alienated them. Ignored them. They has social anxiety disorder.

I grew up in an all white school and vowed to NEVER do that to my kids. Their HS is great academically and diverse. We are blessed.

Being around your own people is imperative but also being culturally exposed to different types of people races ethnicities and backgrounds is key bc that’s really how our world is

My parents still do not understand the trauma that I faced. I have multiple massive degrees in a business so they somehow think I’m OK. I’m not 😌

Same but so many people romanticize it because they haven’t actually experienced it. A solid education is important but the environment is like 60% of the education and being the only one gets tiring
