A People Without a Home For centuries, the Rohingya have lived in Arakan (now called Rakhine State, Myanmar). In 2017, the Myanmar military launched a brutal genocidal campaign, burning villages, killing thousands, and driving over 700,000 Rohingya into neighboring Bangladesh. A Crisis Ignored by the World Despite clear evidence of ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity, justice remains out of reach. Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh are trapped in despair, while those in Myanmar face apartheid-like conditions. Many have risked their lives at sea, hoping to find safety in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, and beyond, only to face rejection, detention, or further hardship. The Strength of Humanity Yet, in the face of such suffering, the human spirit prevails. Rohingya refugees have built schools in the camps, continued their prayers in makeshift mosques, and held onto their language, culture, and dignity. Ordinary people—activists, humanitarian workers, and kind-hearted individuals—have shown solidarity, proving that humanity still exists. A Call for Justice and Action The world cannot remain silent while an entire community is erased. The Rohingya deserve justice, dignity, and the right to return home in safety.
