FYI James smith umbrellas are too long to carry on a flight so you need to check it & they don’t fit a standard suitcase. Signed: someone who once paid for an umbrella to fly as oversized luggage 🙃

Gift shops in the museums (RA, British Museum, V&A) and you also won’t break the bank with those either. M&S do great souvenir biscuit tins etc if you’re on a budget

My souvenir of choice is a tea towel. I use them at home every day and remember my travels. And they take up no space in your suitcase.

It’s a bit cliche but I always get a Xmas bauble from Harrods at Xmas….. however for the first time this last Xmas in about 20 years I didn’t get one as I thought they were absolutely awful…. 🥺

I also recommend unique perfumes from fortnum and mason. Harrods chocolates. Fabrics for liberty (we do a lot of tailoring here in the UaE)
