June 26, 2026 Miloliʻi, Hawaiʻi The View From Here This morning, I woke before the world asked anything of me. Before there were beds to make, laundry to fold, floors to clean, or phone calls to return. The coffee could wait. Even the memoir could wait. For a few quiet moments, I simply watched the morning arrive through my bedroom window. The lanai sat just beyond the glass, still holding yesterday’s traces of life. A chair slightly out of place. My tumbler waiting where I had left it. Work clothes draped over a chair. Papers scattered nearby—architectural plans, memoir pages, ideas for a future still being built. Nothing about the room was picture-perfect. Everything about it was honest. As I looked around, I realized something that would have escaped the woman I used to be. This room doesn’t belong to someone waiting for life to begin. It belongs to someone already living it. There was a time when I believed peace would arrive after everything was finished. After the house was clean. After my body was healed. After relationships were resolved. After every answer had been found. But peace, it turns out, doesn’t wait for completion. It quietly takes a seat beside you in the middle of ordinary mornings. It sits on the edge of an unmade bed. It drifts through an open window with the trade winds. It reminds you that healing is not found in perfection. It is found in presence. Outside, the trees reached toward the morning light exactly as they did yesterday. They weren’t rushing. They weren’t comparing themselves to the forest beside them. They were simply doing what healthy things do. Growing. Perhaps that is all I am being asked to do today. Not solve my entire future. Not carry yesterday’s burdens. Not hurry tomorrow into arriving. Simply grow. One ordinary morning at a time. And from this little room overlooking the trees of Hawaiʻi, with coffee still waiting to be poured and another blank page before me, I realize something beautiful. I am no longer building a life I hope to someday love. I am quietly living one. And that may be the greatest gift this morning has given me. #aprilmudrick #writertok #goodmorning #ehlersdanlos #pots
