I had to admit to myself my mom needed me to be abused bc it meant she wasn’t abused 100% of the time. Forcing me to endure his abuse was in her best interest. She was angry when I left, not relieved.

In my eyes, the parent who doesn't protect their child from the abusive parent/other adult is no better than the one doing the abusing. Children should be the parents priority and main responsibility should be their safety.
