For resistors in series, the current is constant. Thus I1=I2=Is. Or v1/R1=vs/(R1+R2) and v2/R2=vs/(R1+R2)

Correct me if I’m wrong, I think the equations are true because youre finding the resistors through its voltage so you’re giving its fundamental voltage divider. Therefore each voltage is sharing a total of resistance.
