I think ‘dangerous’ is the wrong word to use as they’re completely safe to invest in

I see it as a zero risk lottery. if I need the money I can pull it out. I doubt there's an investment with putting In £25p/m which will yield much after fees

Leave it to the professionals mate, they are useful for additional rate tax payers who don’t have a personal savings allowance, as bond winnings are tax free.

I know but a few £100 isn’t a lot of money. The chance of winning some money is 1 in 24,000 per bond held. Which is much better than the lotto which is about 1 in 45,000,000.

50k in there, you’ll get between 3-5% a year in prizes and you have 50,000 free lottery tickets every month.

Ridic. That. £1 in a bank would only be worth about £2.50 now. It’s about odds and having fun chance of winning big. Get over £20k in and you start winning all the time

With the ‘interest’ being tax free and the ‘rate of return’ at 4%, after using your cash ISA surely there is a place for it? Especially for HRT payers

For them to be worth it you need to have met these 3 criteria: have a minimum of £10K of bonds, be a higher rate tax payer and have already maxed out your £20K ISA allowance for the year.

What scheme do you want us to invest in with you then? There are too many like you on here peddling advice and then when you follow them they start sending you messages about business ops! No thanks.

I’ve won £550 in the last year which is more than 10% on my £4000 stock holding! No bank pays that.

I win on average 200 a month. so 🤷‍♀️more than a savings account. and I don't like risk so I'm OK with that

I use them to save tax free when I’ve used my allowance. Not sure what’s “dangerous” about that.

It’s just a bit of fun checking how much you’ve won each month. But you’re right; it’s very safe but not a big money-earner.

It’s not dangerous you fool. It’s just not as smart as other ways. Some people don’t have the skills or knowledge to invest more smartly. Especially with the UK tax system being so complex

Premium bonds should act as a sort of savings account with around 4% interest. It is incredibly safe and is government backed so is actually safer than holding ur money in a bank.
