It can be done without a legacy contact even if u don’t want anyone to have access to your devices after u die. I verified this with my attorney & Apple

Just a correction here. Legacy does not give access to the phone itself. Just the iCloud account. If you don’t know the phone password you can’t get in.

a death certificate wasn’t good enough to close a Apple ID. So we could use the phone. Went through 5 support people and they all give different answers. 🤬🤬🤬
