@missclairebenjamin: 🚨Handling a new job nightmare👇 Getting off to a bad start with a new job where you’re not inducted and receive no training or handover is a horrible feeling. It can leave you struggling to get to grips with things and sometimes even questioning what you’re supposed to be doing 😳 So when your manager then turns around and says they expected you to get up to speed with things quicker than you have, it can feel very overwhelming, worrying and infuriating. You may even fear your job security especially if you have a probationary period. Companies should always provide proper onboarding, there is so much evidence out there on the importance of it for empowering success. Despite this, sadly many people find themselves in a situation where they receive no proper onboarding. Whilst no one should be in this position, if you do find yourself in it, I would recommend focusing on what you do have control over. This includes communicating what you need in order to get up to speed in the absence of proper onboarding in order to succeed in your role. I would recommend sharing a list of things with your manager that you think would help you for example shadowing people doing a similar job, a workplace mentor, a weekly 1:1 with some short and long term objectives. And ask your manager what they would recommend. Most of all don’t doubt yourself which I know can be so hard in these situations. You’ve got this 👏 💬 Have you ever been in this situation? That’s the manager that want to see you fail and purposely puts you in that position so you can get fired.

Bad managers will never admit they are making mistakes. Look for a new job immediately

I did this - asking information and everything and my manager said she doesn't know and then I was let go after a month "because too many mistakes". Which was not true considering the workload

The manager just wanted to shout at her. She had no interest in actually helping her.

That's a bad manager right there. And please don't teach employees to overcome bad management - teach the management to do their job correctly. Your ego is not my problem, the first answer is OK

4 months!! So.. she never thought to riase this with her manger within the first week, that’s she needed further information. Did she not seek input from other staff members. Sounds like a silent complainer when called out. . I’d move her on.

I'd like to remind y'all that if they don't like you whatsoever. you can't out corporate speak to stay there. know when your presence is wanted and valued.

That's why I left my last job and found a new one with higher pay and better work/life balance. Not worth the fight in a toxic management environment.
