This is a trail that’s been on my list for a while and it surpassed my expectations. Has a little bit of everything and is now in my top 10! 📌SAVE this hike for later: 🇨🇦Horseshoe Lake, Whiteshell Provincial Park, MB 🥾7.1km per AllTrails (we clocked in 6.3km) 🌲Mix of forest and Canadian Shield terrain with some ridge walks. Views of a couple ponds and lakes. Tips: ⏰Prepare to be on the trail for 2-3 hours. 🚙 A Manitoba Park pass is required for your vehicle. 🗺️To find the start of the trail, we used @AllTrails . You’ll notice a sign that says “Big Whiteshell Block 2 & Mantario Hiking Trail”. Along the trail, there are orange flags to follow. The trail starts as an ATV road (there was a sign that said no atv or vehicles permitted) for about 1.3km before hiking through the forest and ridges. 🍕Bring some snacks and/or a lunch! We stopped at one of the ridges with views of the lake and ate some leftover pizza. 💦Bring at least 2 litres of water. 🍃With the recent rainfall, everything was so green and lush! Fall colours were still there, but not as much as a couple weeks ago. Some sections of the trail is overgrown. 💧This trail gets slippery after a rainfall. We took our time and watched our footing. 🪢There’s two make shift rope sections due to the steepness and slippery sections of the trail. Proceed with caution. 🪨At the end of the trail, you’ll see some stunning and unique rock formation that are covered in moss. I was seriously not expecting this type of terrain, especially here in Manitoba. It left me speechless!! ⚠️Leave it better than you found it!
