How to find 2 Sleeping Giants👇 🙏 If you’re enjoying the series, follow along both here & IG. 💡: Check my feed if you missed any trail guides from days 1-15. There’s so many gems released…and so many more coming! A trail guide to explore here: 🥾: This is a combination of multiple trails near each other. My recommendation is: 1. Start at Methuselah tree 2. Take the Methuselah trail 3. Turn left on Fir trail 4. Check out the airplane crash memorial & the picnic/ocean views (will be on the right 0.3 miles after you turn left on Fir trail) 5. Backtrack on fir trail to the Tafoni sandstone 6. Backtrack on Methuselah trail or take Fir trail back to HWY 35. 📏: ~ 3.9 miles and 700 ft of elevation. I was not smart and did a little walking on HWY 35… 🅿️: Multiple free options. Park either at Skeggs Point or here: (37.4061186, -122.3043262) ⚠️: Watchout for rattlesnakes & mountain lions. 👦 friendly: Great for kids 🚽: Porta Potty ♿️: No 📱: No service most of the way 🐕 : No dogs 🌞: Mostly Shaded 🌲: Methuselah is a 4,856-year-old Great Basin bristlecone pine, known as the second oldest living thing in the world. The Bay Area is also known for a ‘methuselah tree’, the oldest and largest living tree in the Santa Cruz Mountains outside of big basin at ~1800 years. It stands a staggering 147 feet tall with a 14’ diameter trunk, which is only after half of it broke off during a storm in 1957 🪨: Tafoni sandstone is a type of rock formation that looks like Swiss cheese. It’s created by a process of erosion and weathering that occurs over thousands of years, and the one here is MASSIVE Follow @outdoorwiseliving for more of the best travel & trail guides! This is day 16 of my challenge to hike 31 different trails & 100 miles in January and make a donation valued $50,000 to Kesem while doing it 2025 stats: - Total Jan hikes: 16 - Total mileage: 68.2
