Redness occurs when the blood vessels in your skin dilate due to improper contraction and relaxation, making it a vascular condition. This condition can be caused by many factors, including hormonal changes, genetic predisposition, medication side effects, and environmental factors. Women around their 50s may experience facial flushing due to hormonal decline disrupting their biological rhythm. People with skin conditions like acne or atopic dermatitis often experience redness, sometimes as a side effect of medications. Steroid medication side effects can weaken the immune system, thinning the skin barrier and causing redness. It often starts as seborrheic dermatitis or contact dermatitis and progresses to rosacea and facial redness. Other causes include frequent spicy food consumption, excessive sun exposure, cosmetic allergies, and overuse of surfactants. I’ll introduce the symptoms and management methods in the next video!
