I had an IVA as it genuinely was my only option, 6 years on I paid it off early as my financials improved, was 15k debt but felt like 150k at the time. My wife and I move into our house next week.

I reckon in a couple of years this will be the next financial scandal! Was sold to me as the best thing ever and moving into year 4 I'm now paying more monthly than I was before the IVA 🙃

I'm 4 years into an iva along with my wife. and it was the worse decision we've ever made. also even harder being self employed.

My in laws got an IVA about 20 years ago and they're still paying things off, they've probably paid back more than they owed and it pushed back their retirements

I can totally understand when someone’s in heavy and they can’t see a way out. Problem is I think too many people see it as an easy way out and don’t understand the repercussions.

I genuinely am so concerned when I see ads on TikTok or instagram saying about IVAs being fantastic. I work within a regulated financial industry, it’s so understated how damaging these are/can be.
