They are selecting families that can afford to tutor stategically to the death. Many academically able do not have this privilege.

We shouldn’t call them state schools because they are selective. The should be branded differently. Private, non fee paying but selective, and then state. Non selective state can’t compete.

once a student gets into dame Alice Owens through selection, their siblings get in under the nonselection. but still from a very highly academic family (just not in the selection numbers)

i just know half of these students went to these grammar schools even tho they’re rich bc going to a private school would have looked unfavourable on their application to oxbridge & other top unis.

It says UK schools but is it just English schools? I can’t see any Scottish schools. If they’re defining it based on GCSEs then Scottish schools won’t be there

This list is false. Michael Community School, London is the greatest state school in the country.

my experience (from 03-10): Langley Grammar literally only cared about those who excelled in a handful of subjects. Those who favoured arts/languages etc were absolutely not supported and

Brampton manor, I went there in the early 90’s , it was so bad that my parents pulled me out and sent me to Wanstead High just before GCSE’s amazing how the school has completely transformed
