Why is there apparently not a limit on the amount executive orders a president can sign? I know the system isn’t personally your fault, but that is a breeding ground for authoritarianism

Ok in normal times , an executive order is just a wish list for the presidents party in congress to pursue. The president isn’t king, he can’t make declarations and call them law . Gotta be stopped!
