Praying in tongues & speaking in tongues are two different things. Praying doesn’t require an interpreter because that’s between you & God, speaking in public in tongues requires an interpreter.

Speaking in tongues is a heavenly language. When you dont know how to explain your heart to God the holy spirit takes over and you speak in tongues through the holy spirit.

My understanding of speaking in tongues is,when two people trying to speak on the Gospel,who do not speak each others languages,can communicate clearly with each other. Each hearing their own language,but each person still speaking their own native language. This make sense to me,MORE so than speaking something that no one else around can understand,unless there is an interpreter there. And THAT is very fallible,because 2 people can conspire to fool. The original understanding that I stated, would truly be a miracle that nobody who is experiencing it in the moment would INSTANTLY realize it’s a miracle.

Speaking in tongues and praying in tongues is perfectly fine as long as it’s not pressed for every single person in the congregation to do it for “salvation.”
