Phlebotomy for Nurses, The IV Video Course, Ultrasound IV Insertion, and Pediatric Venipuncture are all 30% off and come with 2-4 CEUs each! This makes them eligible for reimbursement from your employer in many cases, making them FREE 😉. Click the link in my profile or head to www.theivguy.com/courses to learn more. (And if you want to buy multiple courses, check out the discounted bundles 😊). . Here’s a quick demonstration of drawing blood with a butterfly needle. . I always advise against letting go of the needle during a draw. Patients can move, tubing can get caught, and if you’re maintaining control of the needle your chances of a needle stick injury are greatly reduced. . This video also shows a one-wing hold on the butterfly, and one of the safest ways to close these “slide safety” needles while maintaining control at all times (most people let go briefly). . The initial sodium citrate tube (blue top) was used as a discard in order to clear the butterfly tubing of air. This allows the first tube (also sodium citrate) to fill to the proper volume. (You can also use a no additive tube for the discard) . #nurse #nursing #rn #rnlife #nurselife #instanursing#nurseproblems #nursingschool #nursingproblems#nursingschoolproblems #nursesofinstagram #nurses#studentnurse #nursingstudent #registerednurse #lvn#instanurse #nclex #nclexrn #nclexprep#nursingclinicals #clinicals #nursingschoolclinicals#nursingstudents #nursinglife #nclexreview#nclexpreparation #nclexquestions #phlebotomy#phlebotomist
