I’m a psych nurse practitioner and I have never allowed my kids to see the school counselor. The entire public school system is invasive and can’t be trusted in my opinion.

As a counselor, I think there’s a lot of misinformation in the comments. There are no “transcripts”, I don’t take notes. Maybe jot down something like a name of another student to pull but never, EVER

I’m in AZ and was very involved in the politics of schools/school boards. Believe all of us who have gone before you that your son is not protected by the school or counselor. No GC sessions alone

I have worked in the schools systems and my daughter has seen them many times. I have not met one that is not ALL for the students.

I'm sorry, but when you get in the nitty gritty with the school you will see none of them are going to act as adults. I recommend only if you sit in or get one outside the district.

Former elementary school counselor here. Most don’t take formal notes or make statements to the school. And they can’t release them due to confidentiality laws.
