@katiereesemoves: I’ve had alopecia since I was 10. It’s something that has and will always be a massive part of my life. It flows into almost every situation, decision and is often on my mind. I’ve never been in the ocean bald. That is my goal this summer. That is wild. Alopecia has also made me resilient because It’s fought against my dreams and wishes. Have you ever seen a bald ballerina? Me as a child didn’t. If someone was bald, they were criticized or judged. Because we are to believe long hair is beautiful. Yet I chose to pursue careers infront of a camera where I am constantly being looked at. I shine bright with my light and I proudly can speak up about alopecia to a stranger, to anyone without fear crippling inside of me. I am now confident to know if someone has a issue with it, it’s not on me, but their ignorance. I have made so much progress and still have so much more growing to do. Acceptance is different to everyone. For me, it isn’t showing people I can be bald, acceptance is saying this is me, and I love me.
