This is the brush type. It's not uncomfortable. There's another type where they somewhat clip off a larger chunk. That is painful. I've done both, the painful one is at the polyclinic.

Pap is an old test. Your GP should be better informed. What you need is an HPV test. You can even do a self test! No need for a speculum.
