Did you know that the mountain on the Coors Light label is an actual 14er that you can climb? Yep, I did it. I climbed another 14er! My 2nd of the trip. For my final hike in Colorado, I decided to go big (before I go home). A friend and I had plans to climb Wilson Peak, in Telluride, Colorado, however, the day before, a nearby wildfire blew some pretty gross smoke into the area. We couldn’t even see the mountain behind all the smoke! Thankfully, the following morning the smoke had (mostly) cleared, which gave us a perfect opportunity to climb the mountain. We started our climb from the Rock of Ages Trailhead, and made the slow slog up the mountain. The first saddle we arrived at was our indication to turn left and head towards the next saddle. It was lots of Class 2, rocky climbing at this point. Once at that second saddle we strapped on our helmets and the Class 3 climbing began. The final half mile or so of Wilson Peak is Class 3, meaning hands and feet are required. And while many of these sections didn’t have serious exposure, there were definitely a few very sketchy sections with tremendous injury (or worse) if one were to fall. It was both scary and exciting! We eventually made it to the summit and had a big high-five fest with our group and the other group already up there. What an amazing feeling to be on top of a 14er like that. Did you know that the mountain on the Coors Light label is Wilson Peak? Yep. I had to take a video of a Coors can at the top of the mountain. All of us headed back down the mountain together and made it back to the parking lot without incident. Once back at camp I made sure to crack a cold Coors Light in celebration. Cheers to Wilson Peak. My trip is almost over but I have a ton of adventures coming up, and I’d be honored if you’d follow along. #wilsonpeak #sanjuanmountains #hikecolorado #HikeTelluride #14er @Coors Light
