Same goes for dogs. If you forbid them to show uneasiness etc (snarling, showing teeth) you are telling them to skip straight to the next escalation level: biting bcs they learned that noone listens..

My horse had someone always be harsh with him, so he acted defensively if you corrected him and he’d square up like ‘ok fight me’ and it took me being like I just want mutual respect, he stopped it

As someone who’s worked with exotics for 15+ years. You can absolutely train animals without ever needing to hit or yell or do anything like that.

Ty!!!! I started out in zoos where positive reinforcement has been the only thing used in DECADES BC IT WORKS. I get embarrassed for people who still hit animals & call it training, sooo antiquated
