This occurs when the elbows flare out directly to the sides, putting the shoulders in a compromised position and increasing the risk of injury. Instead, lower the bar in a slight arc toward your middle to lower chest. To achieve this, allow your elbows to naturally tuck toward your sides, aligning them with your middle to lower chest as you bring the bar down.
