Jung Bahadur Rana (1817–1877) was the founder of Nepal's Rana dynasty, ruling as the first hereditary prime minister after seizing power in the Kot Massacre of 1846. Known for centralizing authority and sidelining the monarchy, he introduced the Muluki Ain legal code and strengthened ties with the British. Jung Bahadur Rana's reign was marked by significant reforms that shaped Nepal’s legal and administrative systems. One of his most notable achievements was the introduction of the Muluki Ain in 1854, Nepal’s first unified legal code, which sought to formalize social hierarchy and regulate civil and criminal law. Jung Bahadur Rana is renowned for establishing the Rana regime in Nepal, which centralized power under his family for over a century. Rising to prominence after the Kot Massacre in 1846, he became the country’s first hereditary prime minister, sidelining the monarchy. His leadership marked a transition from feudal chaos to a highly structured oligarchic system. Jung Bahadur Rana’s foreign policy ensured Nepal’s sovereignty during a period of aggressive British colonial expansion in South Asia. His visit to Britain in 1850, the first by a Nepali leader, strengthened Nepal’s diplomatic ties with the British Empire. This relationship was further solidified when he supported the British during the Indian Rebellion of 1857 AD. #NSM_Edits #fyp #xyzbca #Nepal #nepalihistory #jungbahadurrana #medievalhistory #medievaltiktok #medievalnepal #ranarule #eastindiacompany #britishrule
