Aged 12 in 1976 we had slide rules. Calculators were new and banned until we were 16. By then we knew how to programme computers. We also fact checked played & played outside.🙄

He missed the most important part of his own analogys. Calculators are allways right. AI just "guesses" and hopes its right. Thus 1 of the 2 speeds up repetetive taks, while the other makes mistakes.

2 things. Memorizing numbers is an edge case problem. Most of the time it’s better those are in the phone. And with quantum computers, how do you know AI did a good job? You don’t and that’s scary.
