More land was moved in Seattle than the Panama Canal, most of the dirt is what SODO is built in. Those stadiums would have been in the water 150 years ago.

In Mexico when it rains. Small artifacts bubbles up to the surface out of the mud. The Scientist say mexico is a singular massive archeological site. I wonder what mysteries those water cannons disintegrated.

The way they did stuff was crazy. No regulation, no care of the environment. Cool in a way, reckless in so many others. There’s a town in Michigan that disappeared after clear cutting and the dunes

Born and raised Seattle I remember being taught in history class for a long time. They just had a board between some of the parts of the city that was just a giant drop when they were like fixing some

Omaha did a similar yet smaller scale project. there was a hill on the west end of what is now down town where they knocked it's height down considerably.

They did it to raise the grade of downtown to stop the sewer system from backing up at high tide. Not to improve the view.

I just took the underground tunnel tour. The city was originally on a 45% grade. Today not a single road has greater than a 22% grade

Isn’t this backwards? They built the city below sea level. Then when the city burnt down they lifted the city. Not lowered it. But the city took too long & some businesses built at the original level.
