I think they used something like 5axis cnc. Just imagine if you have stone in fixed positions and differnet types of fixed tools available so you dont lose the simetri and position of the piece.

Of course it can. Lugs heights can easy be controlled on a lathe to with in .0001” with hand tools and a tool rest.
