If you as a man require women to be and feel beneath you in order for you to feel more like a man.. maybe you just aren’t that good at being a man. For quite some time, social media at large has been rife with misogynistic and hateful rhetoric directed towards women by droves of men who believe that they have been wronged, taken for granted, or unfulfilled by some promise that claims they are entitled to a woman’s time, presence, and body. Women don’t owe you sh_t. You are entitled to NOTHING involving another being. Women are fully-functioning autonomous beings. They are not a prize to be won, they are not a mountain to be climbed, they are not creatures to be captured and tamed. They are people. Just like you. You don’t have to hate women for not fulfilling their end of this ridiculous power-dynamic that we as men created in the first place. You don’t have to hate women just because YOU as a man feel incompetent at fulfilling your role in society that WE as men perpetuate and created in the first place. Instead of getting on here and talking ABOUT women.. why not talk TO women? Instead of talking about what they should and shouldn’t do, what they do and don’t need, talk TO them and give them the platform to express themselves. With an open heart and receiving mind, LISTEN when they tell you what their experience as a woman is like. LISTEN when they tell you what they require and desire. Only then will we as men be able to serve and provide in the ways that many of us believe we are instinctively programmed to. This world is directed by and catered towards us as men. We have manipulated it to be so. But if we truly wish to provide for women, we must be aware of what is required. Only then can we achieve unity. A man without empathy is not deserving of the title. Men, women, they/them.. we’re just people. People with hopes, dreams, fears, and requirements. We all just want to experience peace and make it home safely at the end of the day. Instead of “standing together” on a podium, let’s step down from the podium entirely and walk together towards a brighter, more unified future. #fruitforthought
