![President Trump on Tuesday held what amounted to a Tesla commercial on the South Lawn of the White House in order to boost the beleaguered company run by Elon Musk. “I’m going to buy because, number one, it’s a great product, as good as it gets. Number two, because this man [Elon Musk] has devoted his energy and his life to doing this, and I think he has been treated unfairly,” he told reporters before getting into a vehicle with Mr. Musk. Five Tesla vehicles were parked on the South Lawn, including a Cybertruck and the red Model S that he got into but did not take for a test ride, saying the Secret Service would not allow him. Tesla sales have slumped, and its stock has plummeted, falling about 45% from its all-time high set in December in the wake of President Trump’s election. The company has faced boycotts and protests at its showrooms as Mr. Musk has increasingly tied himself to President Trump, leading his DOGE efforts.
