I've had situations like this. Had 11 people show up at 4am one night cause a hotel closed. Turns out it was a true, they had a major pipe burst and had to kick everyone out.

I’m worried this was an unhoused persons attempt at a bed after having to leave a shelter perhaps? I work in food service and this kind of lying is usually how they avoid begging and feeling embarrassed
