@whileyouwonder: What’s your “interest”? Did it take you a hot minute to realise it didn’t have to be Thomas the Tank Engine to count? 😅 #autism #neurodivergent #auitsmassessor #adhd

can the interests have like a cycle of activity? i kind of rotate different ones, so i can "update" them, and i get REALLY into it when they activate, and then basically forget their existence😅

Could reading be one? It’s been one of my biggest passions all my life and I’m constantly thinking about books I’ve read and what I’m reading next

Was relieved to find that Netflix Christmas Movies weren't on your list. Pretty sure plenty of neurotypical people are into those. And they probably research a couple of things after they've watched them too. Like, up to the point where they can recognise which fictional Christmas country a scene is set in, based solely on the style of car registration plates. And then start an online wiki to document their research. Just everyday, normal behaviour.

So what do neurotypicals talk about if they aren’t talking about their interests? Like I can imagine not telling someone at checkout. But if you’re trying to get to know someone? How do they do that?

I don't know I feel like I don't know enough about my interest to call them interests. I might spend a lot of my time thinking about them and gathering information but how do they qualify?

I'll add one, a particular genre of game. (I'm looking at you cozy gamers) hyperfixation on decorating to perfection, hyperfixation on creating the most efficient city's/factory's, hyperfixation on unlocking every achievement/finding every hidden treasure. you don't have to be obsessed with 1 particular game when multiple games scratch that same itch.

literally your first 3 examples are what I explained in an autism pre assessment and this was one of the reason they said it wouldn't be worth seeking an official dx because "they're normal things -

This isn’t related to this vid, but i have a thing where i can’t watch horror or listen to people describe body horror without gagging and fidgeting because i imagine it so strongly happening myself & no one else i know does this (even those who don’t like horror). Would this be a form of literal thinking??

I feel like I don’t actually research any of my interests so they don’t count. I’ll watch tiktoks about them and always remember random facts but I don’t deep dive. Or am I taking that too literally😂

is this why when I try to talk to NTs about their hobbies (to be polite and to make conversation) they don’t even have that much to say about them??
