I’ll ask doctors for lots of things, but 98% of the time if you need antibiotics a doctor will give them to you without you asking for them??? The ONLY times I’ve asked were bc of a recurring infection that I had previously been given antibiotics for (and the first time I was like,,, are you sure I rly have to take these???) and for rifaximin for suspected SIBO caused by the previously mentioned antibiotics. If anything, I think doctors still give out antibiotics slightly more frequently than necessary even when not asked

I hear this from my parents all the time. My kids are teens and they have each only ever had one antibiotic (strep)’in their life. We never skip a vaxx, mask when needed and hand wash.

People do not want to hear this. I have the same issue. Everyone wants a z pack! I go through antibiotic resistance speeches all day long

Nurse mom here. My 11 yo had had a cold, and had been coughing for almost 6w before I finally took him to an urgent care. One chest X-ray later dx with pneumonia. 🤷♀️

I wouldn’t say your patients are hounding you. They are coming to you for help but are missguided in their understanding of viruses. It was common for people to self treat with antibiotics years ago

Make it make sense. No vaxxing but they post about how severely ill they are and so many times per year now. They know DEEP DOWN that they have worse colds/illnesses.🤐🤒💊
