Ahem… Hey, architect here! So as you back up, the sphere can’t see you as well, so it comes closer. Hope this helps!

Hello, optical Illusion neuro-scientist here! Basically the sphere has an anxious attachment style so when you pull away it gets really stressed out and starts trying to get closer. Please stop stressing him out, hope this helps

15 feet won't change your perspective on the sphere, but 15 feet will dramatically change your perspective on the window

think of it this way: moving a few feet back and forth in the room is actually not very much space when you take into account the ACTUAL distance between you and the sphere. it doesn’t change in size (in your vision) but the window DOES because you are quite close to it already. as you get closer, the window appears to get bigger and creates more space around the sphere which makes the sphere appear smaller. the opposite occurs as you move away from the window. but the distance between you and the sphere is so large that it doesn’t really change much at all, so it appears to be larger when the window is smaller.

Forced perspective. It is relative to you, the window, and the ball. Basically you would perceive it as the window frame getting smaller the further you move away from it yet the ball stays the same relative size because the distance is too far from you and the window.

This is why we have flat earthers, because things explained in grade school never quite clicked, and now the mundane seems magical.
