Endometriosis doesn’t automatically mean you need to go gluten free. I have endometriosis, and I’m not gluten free. It’s also not something I recommend to every woman with endo by default. Some women genuinely feel better without gluten, and I take that seriously. But feeling less bloated doesn’t necessarily mean removing gluten has treated the endometriosis itself. When you change your diet, several things can change at once. You might eat different foods, change your fibre intake or reduce certain fermentable carbohydrates. So if your symptoms improve, I want to understand what actually helped. The research on gluten free diets for endometriosis is limited. We don’t have strong evidence to make it a blanket recommendation for everyone. And restriction has a cost. Cutting out foods without suitable replacements can make it harder to get enough fibre, iron and other nutrients. It can also make eating more stressful when you’re already managing pain, fatigue and unpredictable symptoms. One thing I do want you to know: if coeliac disease is a possibility, speak with your GP about testing before removing gluten. Going gluten free first can make the results unreliable. My approach is to look at your symptoms, your food intake and what deserves investigation, then work out which changes are worth making for you. You deserve nutrition support that helps you feel confident about food. If you’d like individual support with endometriosis and digestive symptoms, book with me, Mel, at Nourishing Apothecary, or start with a free discovery call. Liverpool, Sydney and Australia wide via Zoom. www.nourishingapothecary.com #Endometriosis #GlutenFree #EndometriosisNutrition #GutHealth #NourishingApothecary
