Thank you! I teach first grade, and we don't really get to this. We do come across some words with -ion so good to know!

We teach tion, sion, and ssion as final stable syllables for reading. The pronunciation is unexpected, but reliable. For spelling we teach the spelling pattern for each one.

I have found that my kids with dyslexia do way better when I remind them of the rule when we spell a word verses sounding out alone!

I teach tion, sion as a word ending- not a suffix- early on- so kids can access more words. After I’ve taught a few roots, explain connectors (I) and suffixes. It seems to work.😊

Crazy, my daughter’s program taught us that ti and si say sh. I’m so confused now.

Great! Love it! How do we explain absorption and ascension? I’m sure there are rules there; I’m just not sure how to explain it to my writers.

I use Logic of English for my kids and they teach ti, si , ci as 3 different phonograms.

Yes! Just a small note, the base does have the final silent before it is replaced by . I love that you are spreading this great info!

I'm also dyslexic and the more I learnt about this way of working the more I'd like a time machine to go back and tell my younger self that it does make sense and there are answers!😊
