@woodsmith_uk: The Silky Pocketboy is one of our most popular saws, especially among green woodworkers! As the name suggests, it’s small enough to fit into a deep pocket or tool bag, making it the perfect companion in the workshop or out in the woods. The SK-4 carbon steel blade is durable yet flexible, with impulse-hardened teeth that last 3x longer. The four razor-sharp cutting angles - known as ‘Mirai-Me’ - create an exceptionally smooth cut, reducing splintering and preserving up to 50% more wood cells. Chrome plating protects against rust and sap, extending the blade’s lifespan. Unlike most saws, Silky’s teeth have no set (formed inside the blade width), reducing friction for cleaner, faster cuts with less effort. The Pocketboy comes in two sizes - 170mm and 130mm - but one of the most common questions we get is: which tooth configuration should I choose? 🔴 Large Teeth (6.8 TPI) – When speed matters! Designed for fast-growing, fresh wood with a lot of moisture. Best for quickly cutting small-diameter greenwood billets.
⚫️ Medium Teeth (8.5 TPI) – A true all-rounder. Still fast-cutting but with a finer finish than the large-tooth version. Izzy’s go-to!
🔵 Fine Teeth (16.9 TPI) – Designed for drier wood with less moisture. Ideal for precision work where a clean finish is key - great for fork tines, stop cuts, and detail work.
