The judges are absolutely WORTHLESS unless you go to radix, nycda, 24seven, jump, nuvo. Competitions literally hired anyone.

Just dad Platinum Dance Competition for the first time in many years.. my daughter is a senior. All 3 judges had great feedback. Not just positive comments but helpful critiques.

I hate to say that I almost miss paper critiques 😬. I love that things are digital and quick but if you aren’t gonna say anything then at least maybe you wrote something down on the paper.

I’m a great Judge! My critiques are phenomenal! I go above and beyond with more on how to fix things that I see that need perhaps more conditioning and how to fix the movement through variations.

Aww man Encore used to be my FAVORITE competition, so it’s really a bummer to hear this. We stopped going once Karyn (sp?) took over. Rhonda Miller who used to run it was the one that had all the 1/2

1. As a parent, this is so frustrating, and why we are not allowed to hear the feedback, then I ask my kid what critiques were and it’s “they didn’t say much” so then their HG score routine continues

On ocassion things are happening with the audio files and judging iPads where we are trying to juggle something else that is happening and the competition just doesn’t allow enough time to adress it

We just attended kaos hip hop dance comp and we had to pay a fee for video critiques and we got absolutely nothing maybe a word or two from two judges and another ones says not one single word 😭

I love that you posted this my daughter took her critiques so seriously until the last year and it was like so minimal which made her wonder why she got the score she did even if it was good.

We cut back on comps because what’s the point in paying so much money and you get little to no feedback. When the dancers are the age my daughter is great feet, lovely costume and great stage presence just don’t cut it anymore.

I had a tape once that that had nothing until the end and then said. Choreographer listen to this without the student. It bothers me to this day and I haven’t competed in 20 years lol

I attended a different comp this weekend and one judge was highly opinionated on costumes and choreo. Lady I didn’t ask for your opinion , we paid for your critique

Dance Showcase in Little Rock this year. I have 4 competitive dancers. One judge said “don’t look at the judges table” in EVERY single critique. And not much else.

I think judges voice critiques are kind of a waste of time. I would rather just have a more detailed score sheet with side comments. The last one I went to the judges talked too much.
