Everyone lives much longer today because of the technology that was developed by a few very smart people and implemented by hard working ordinary people (medical, clean water treatment and distribution, food production, better housing and sanitation, etc.). Everyone else is freeloading.

No we aren’t. However it is the most intelligent species that have grandparents. Whales, dolphins, elephants….and all have family hierarchies.

Not quite, it's called the Grandmother Hypothesis. The suggestion being that they help contribute to the survival and reproduction of their grandchildren and therefore indirectly their genes.

I think it's more to do with medicine and (by 'natural' standards) the incredibly safe and luxurious lifestyles most modern humans have.

I think the "grandmother theory" is not supported by evidence and sexist. Men live slightly shorter and retain fertility while women's longer life is not dependent on their role in caring for children
