It's the same as judging any other Mos it's about how proficient u are at ur job thru training and exercises and ur proficiency in your schools that you might get sent to pertaining to ur mos.

Idk but it probably sucks being an 03** in peace time. Probably just getting hazed in the brcks for 4 years.

I joined in peace and got to kickoff GWOT. Peacetime proficiency is squad comp, field problems, weapons knowledge, schools. Certainly not a perfect correlation to combat, but it’s what we have

The more you, sweat during peace, the less you bleed in war! No one really knows how someone is going to respond but training matters and I was so proud of my guys when we were in desert storm.

You don’t grade. If they’re squared away and proficient with their weapon they have a better chance than the average but nobody knows how someone will react till the brass is coming down range at you

the Infantry is always training. regardless of war or not. at least in the Army u start with individual training all the way up brigade and then the culminating event would be NTC or JRTC training.

Unlike some other mos a lot of 03 Cpl & Sgt haven't seen combat because when they left SOI they went other places 8&I sea duty or other places then after 3 years they come to the fleet w no experience

I was in a combat support element. I fixed your comsec. No one can answer that question. No one knows how someone will react. Look at your medal of hour recipients. It’s the ones you’d least expect.

U can’t. We had a guy that we all thought he would fold under fire. We were way wrong. He earned a silver start for saving 11 marines under fire.

Competency in combat can only be tested in combat but u can judge a grunt on how SERIOUS he takes his training and his competency in the mos.

You judge them by his overall leadership proficiency especially in the field. How do you judge any mos when not at War. If they stay in long enough they will be tested America is always at war. 0369
