Michigan here - we call it tater tot casserole. I usually make it with green beans or corn depending on who's eating it (My fiance doesn't like green beans) but I prefer green beans lol. but also usually use cream of mushroom but I'm going to try one of each next time!

Next time precook those tater tots and then finish them on the casserole. The texture is amazing and not soggy on the bottom. You’ll never go back to the other way.

Brown hamburger w/ taco seasoning, layer cheese Doritos in bottom baking pan, add taco meat tomatoes, olives, toppings of your choice, cover with cheese & tater tots, cook add sour cream when done.

That was a perfect example of Tator Tot Casserole. 🥰🥰🥰 I only use 1 lb of hamburger and 1 C of M Soup. I also add a little sour cream. But there’s so many versions. It’s all good.

From Minnesota, well done! About the only thing I do different is add jarlic and Worcestershire sauce into the ground beef.

I guess I'm basic, because this is exactly how I make mine. I season the meat as it cooks vs after and I use cream of celery vs mushroom b/c I don't like mushrooms.
