I took out a total of $40k, I owe $72k and I’ve been paying on them for 16 years. Altho, the “recalculation” says I have 12 years of repayment left. The math isn’t mathing and idk if I’m even in a 20 repayment anymore. I was.

I am so sorry. This is not fair. You’ve been paying for seven years yet your current balance is over $50,000 more? It is not right.

I went to pharmacy school too, parents paid for my 3 years of undergrad and 1st year of pharm school. And I still owe 110k. Crazy. I’m in forbearance and putting money aside in a HYSA in the meantime

I would cry. I’m scared to see what my payment will be after my IDRP lapses in September.

You have to wait and apply for IBR when they open it back up. Congress would need to vote to repeal PSLF.

My heart goes out to you. I borrowed (and paid back) like $130k and it was tough. My husband still has his. It’s so taxing. Going to be hard for all of us.

Obviously if u get student loans then ur best option is to move back in with parents and pay every dime u make for 2-3 yrs to loans until they’re GONE! Will take less than it took to get ur degree!

This scares me. I’m so glad we saved for our kids/can make monthly payments. One is just graduating from UW with no debt. Other will graduate from Marquette with no debt.

Indentured servant creating machine! They gotta us to sign up then kept changing the rules. LOAN SERVICERS GET PAID BILLIONS while you stay caught in the debt trap!

It’s because you didn’t make any payments towards principal.

This is the problem with lower monthly payment options. It keeps you in debt forever.

Once IBR applications become available definitely start your application to get a lower payment.

Background on choices? Entry pay for phd pharmacist? All unsubsidized loans? Any savings or parental tuition help? Working during school? School choice?
