My theory: Corporal Lawrence was a nice guy actually, slowly turning crazy yet still deep inside he was good, during a field operation he fell into a pit of black goo, came out as 106, over 100 years passed, he's still stuck inside his controlled body watching everyone he sees get brutalized in his pocket dimension, this theory has a bit of proof by this one throne room in his pocket dimension, on the throne is the anomalous black 'goo', the one who kneels is lawrence, accepting his fate to live for eternity, his only purpose is fear and murder, he never wanted that.
