@crmnallyobsessed: 24-year-old Chanda Fehler was beloved in the Tuscaloosa community. She had been a kindergarten teacher for two years and was pursuing her masters degree in Education at the University of Alabama. On June 10, 1987 Chanda went to the swimming pool on the UA campus. Although many people confirmed seeing her at the pool that day, no one saw her leave. She was supposed to meet up with someone later that evening but never showed up. The following morning, her family reported her missing. Four days later her body was discovered by two fisherman in the Black Warrior River near the Peterson area which is about 5 miles north of campus. The state of her body indicated foul play. A cause of death has never been revealed. It has been 38 years since Chanda was found and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit has intensified their investigation with the help of forensic technology. Investigators are hopeful that with the assistance of a M-Vac system that they will be able to uncover new DNA evidence.
