@habeebmukasa: spent an afternoon in Agbogbloshie, Accra. It's hard to believe this place, once a wetland, is now one of the world's largest e-waste dumps. I met young men who spend their days filling a small lake with trash. They told me, chillingly, that anyone who drowns in that lake is never found. They're doing this, filling it, hoping it will become usable land, a chance for a better life. Others are here, salvaging, sorting recyclables, selling them to plants. And some are washing and reselling discarded clothes in the markets. These men, working in these conditions, earn about 200 cedis a day. ($12usd) Many thanks to Xavier for all your help. #ghanatiktok #ghana #accraghana🇬🇭 #beebstours

This is so awful and unfair. There’s no way that the current solution of filling the water with trash is the best option. And there’s still no answer to HOW this happened and WHO brought it all here!
