We talk a lot at each other about politics and about voting and as Black people, I’m sure you’re tired of hearing it, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not extremely important that we vote in these midterm elections. Midterm elections are exactly what they sound like. They are the elections that take place in the middle of the presidents term in office. It determines who runs the government currently Republicans have control of the house, the Senate and all branches of government. We only need three seats to flip the House of Representatives and four seats to Flip the Senate that will actually re-implement the system of checks and balances in this country. Because Republicans are not holding Donald Trump accountable for anything and allowing him to be brazen in his corruption we see things like the voting right act section 2 being revoked we see things like the redistricting of congressional districts in Tennessee and Georgia this is all happening because we have no representation in Congress. The Democrats are not perfect. They have done a lot of things that I don’t align with that many of us are aligned with but the Republicans are not our friends and I know there’s a lot of conservative Black people who are Christian, who truly believe that that’s true, but if that was true, we would all have equal rights. Women wouldn’t be fighting for their autonomy and our civil rights wouldn’t be taken away. Please go out and vote this midterm election. It is extremely extremely important for the Black community to utilize and exercise our right to vote because they are banking on us not to come out. #midterms #midterm #elections #voting #BlackTikTok
