BEFORE YOU SAY “THE CHURCH IS THE PROBLEM,” PAUSE. Before we create the narrative that Christianity is the problem, the Church is the problem, or pastors are the problem, let’s take a step back and look at the bigger picture. There are pastors who are using their platforms to challenge government policies, speak against injustice and demand accountability. You may not agree with every pastor or every method, but we must be honest enough to acknowledge the voices that are speaking. So before we build a conclusion from an incomplete narrative, let’s calm down and look at the whole picture. Criticising the Church is not wrong. Holding pastors accountable is not wrong. But criticism should be fair, informed and consistent. And here is the question: The same energy we use to criticise pastors and the Church, can we also use it to challenge our celebrities with large concerts, influencers and other public figures to speak about the issues affecting the people? Accountability should not become selective. Let’s ask questions. Let’s demand responsibility. But let’s do it with facts, fairness and intellectual honesty. The goal should not be to find someone to blame. The goal should be to see a better society.
