it's not rocket science. the spool won't stop spinning on its own. thumb brake it when your lure is where you want it to be or before it stops. done.

My buddy borrowed couple of my bait casters for high school fishing team. 6 rods and reels. Everyone of them come back with worst bird nest I ever seen.
